| The NDMP Plugin Module easily integrates with NetVault: Backup to maximize the benefits of NDMP. The NDMP Plugin Module enhances backup performance and maximizes data transfer over the network, while maintaining centralized backup administration, and providing fast, online backup and restore of data. Available for UNIX, Windows, and Linux, the NDMP Plugin Module provides a full-featured solution for NAS devices including local backup, automation control, direct access restores, and Dynamically Shared Devices. |

| |
| Central Management and Easy-to-Use Interface |
| The NDMP Plugin Module simplifies control of NAS environments with a common backup and restore solution that provides centralized management via an interactive GUI. |
| |
| Support for Heterogeneous Server Environments |
| Enjoy seamless interoperability in a mixed server environment of UNIX, Windows, and Linux operating systems and NAS devices. |
| |
| Multiple Backup Configuration Options |
| Increase NAS and network availability by defining NDMP based backup functions to meet your existing storage environment. The NDMP plugin module supports all five data transfer models: 1) Filer data to local filer attached tape devices 2) Filer to tape devices attached to the NetVault: Backup server or a SmartClient 3) Direct open systems client data to tape devices attached to a filer 4) Filer data to a remote tape device attached to another filer 5) Filer to an NDMP compliant network attached tape device. |

| Direct Access Restores |
| Provides faster recovery of whole directories, a single file, or subset of files. When files are backed up, the location is recorded. At restore time, this information can be used to position the exact location of the file on the media rather than reading sequentially through the whole backup. (Works with filers that support DAR functionality) |
| |
| Fast Indexing of Backup |
| Optimize your backups with selectable index options. Enhanced options include writing the index to media or the NetVault: Backup database after a backup completes. |
| |
| Shadow Tape Technology |
| NetVault: Backup supports the NetApp® NearStore® VTL Shadow Tape technology. This removes the need to import the physical media into the physical library which back-ends the VTL. This allows NetVault: Backup to perform a 'quick import' of an exported tape by importing from the shadow store where possible, rather than having to import from the physical tape (potentially offsite). The result is enhanced backup performance, reduced data transfer over the network, while supporting a centralized backup administration with online backup and restore of data. This integration significantly streamlines enterprise data recovery by integrating Shadow Tape with NetVault: Backup policies to provide simplicity and ease of management for data backup, recovery and protection. |
