| When NetVault: Backup executes a backup, a dynamically allocated pre-image cache is created for all open files on the system. Only changed data is stored in the pre-image cache, not entire files. When NetVault: Backup reaches a portion of a file that has changed, the Open File Manager Plugin Module will substitute the original (pre-write) data from the pre-image cache to fulfill the backup request. The file on tape will then look exactly as it did when the backup process began, therefore guaranteeing the most complete and accurate backup and restore |
