The Zi16 leverages the performance edges by the 5th generation ASIC400 RAID architecture, RAID6 protection, ease of management by the latest SANWatch revision, and data service features such as snapshot and EonPath multi-pathing for optimal level of fault tolerance.
With exceptional flexibility in cabling and configuration for an IP SAN, the S16E marks an equilibrium between economics and vigorous features.

The Zi16 series are the world's first iSCSI to SAS/SATA RAID arrays with four Gigabit Ethernet ( GbE ) ports on each controller. They help users achieve best-in-class performance while benefiting from the affordability and straightforward management of IP SANs. |
|
| |
|
| |
Combining multiple host channels into a portal group can increase the applicable bandwidth of each iSCSI session. 2, 3, or 4 GbE links can be grouped into a TCP session so that bandwidth can be expanded for a server demanding higher throughput. In an end-to-end RAID5 configuration with four host channels combined into a portal group, the Zi16 single controller can achieve 420MBps reads and 310MBps writes; for Zi16 redundant model, the performance can be further improved to 700MBps reads and 320MBps writes. |

| |
Similar to Fibre Channel expansion loops, SAS expander technologies also enable the ease of connections when the need arises for more capacity. All you have to do is to attach the cables, select an enclosure ID, and power on the machine. The SAS WWN addresses will be automatically applied to all the disk drives.

|
| |
The Zi16 is a perfect choice for budget-conscious companies. Besides leveraging existing investments in an Ethernet network, the Zi16 also grants users the flexibility to intermix SAS and SATA drives for a tiered storage environment: higher-RPM and reliable SAS drives for critical and I/O-intensive access, while large SATA drives for less-critical data, archive, or D2D backup.

SANWatch: SANWatch provides all functions necessary to discover, configure, administer, and monitor Infortrend's RAID arrays. Its unified GUI brings you simplicity in using all the features which enable data protection and high availability. Whether single or many, via Intranet or Internet, the status of your subsystems is always at your fingertips.
Snapshot:Snapshot is an add-on feature of SANWatch. SANWatch Snapshot contributes to point-in-time backup with high fidelity and minimal impact on ongoing applications. Moreover, since the snapshot operation is processed by RAID hardware, it causes no loading on host CPUs at all. Snapshot also features dedicated snapshot volumes, automated snapshot scheduler, and comprehensive disk space control.
EonPath:The EonPath drivers coordinates with Microsoft MPIO, runs on Solaris and Linux platforms, provides fault tolerance for multiple data paths and load-balancing algorithms. The EonPath also enables access through an alternate path in the event of single cabling failure.
