The P1674 SBOD (Switched Bunch of Drives) allows users to expand their high-performance EonStor FC SAN with large-capacity SATA drives through fault-tolerant dual-loop connectivity. Whether to deploy tiered storage or fulfill harsh capacity demands, users can find a satisfactory solution in a single configuration.
Overview
Cost-effective Choice to Enrich FC SAN Configuration Possibilities
The P1674 expansion enclosure is designed with 4Gb/s Fibre Channel connectivity and accommodates large-capacity SATA drives. Used with F1654E/F1604E RAID subsystems or RH054E/RH004E controller heads, it introduces unique configuration possibilities to FC SAN storage. Scaling Fibre up to a 224-drive configuration housing 16 FC drives and 208 SATA drives, users can adopt it for tiered storage where tier 2 applications, such as email messaging, non-mission critical database applications, scientific computing and near-line storage, demand much more capacity than tier 1, business-critical applications. Users can also combine Fibre controller heads with P1674 expansion enclosures to deploy a 272-drive installation all housing SATA drives. The extraordinary scalability makes it an ideal match for the most capacity-hungry applications, such as media editing, broadcasting and surveillance. If users need more performance storage in the configurations, they can intermix the P1674 with Infortrend's another SBOD offering supporting FC drives, F1684, to expand the Momentum SAN.
Robust Architecture to Deliver Efficiency, Reliability and Ease-of-Use
The P1674 SBOD is built on high-efficiency and high-reliability architecture. Its built-in firmware intelligence increases access efficiency by 75% than the traditionally arbitrated loops and the fault-isolation algorithm ensures performance level in the event of drive failure. Its embedded system firmware comes with the intelligence to enhance configuration simplicity. Adding an SBOD to an existing installation is as simple as cabling, switching enclosure ID, and powering on.
